oh my stomach

I got a message from a colleague. He indicated that his stomach wasn’t right and he wouldn’t go to the office.

If he doesn’t feel well, he should stay home and take a break. The next day, he told us why he had some problems with his stomach.

After listening to his situation, I just recalled some stories about my stomach while traveling. Well, it was a long time ago, I went to Beijing. Before taking a trip, I asked a professor who went to China several times about his opinions. He shared his experience and provided some suggestions. The most important thing that he told me is that don’t eat something weird. He asked me to take care of my stomach. I certainly followed his advice and my stomach didn’t go wrong that time.

However, things went a little bit different when I went to India. Before the trip, I knew that Indian food is spicy. My stomach usually goes wrong with spicy food. Nonetheless, I still wanted to try authentic Indian food. So, during those days, I still tried some spicy food “carefully”. Well, at the beginning, my stomach was ok.

Nevertheless, in the last 2 days, I did spend more time in the toilet. My stomach had a little bit of a problem. So, I had to finish some business. Thankfully, it didn’t go really wrong.

Last year, I told a friend from India about this story. He certainly understands the situation. Nonetheless, he told me that he would like to show me around and help my stomach get used to local food and then, he would take me to taste street food.

While traveling, trying local food, in particular, authentic local food, is a must for me. However, it’s important to carefully evaluate what local food it is. If you are allergic to some ingredients, you had better not try it. Moreover, if sometimes it is too spicy or unclean, you might have to avoid it. Well, if you really want to try something weird, you must know that there are impacts of doing so.
