Korean food


I was organizing a press conference. A client came to me and asked me to do him a favor. He had to book a Korean food restaurant because his supervisors would like to have dinner in a Korean food restaurant.

 

It wasn’t an easy task because it was dinner time and most of the restaurants were fully occupied. I called several restaurants and even walked to a restaurant that is close to the hotel to see if it possibly could fit his supervisor’s taste.

 

Thankfully, after 20 minutes, I got a call from a Korean food restaurant. A staffer indicated that there were tables available. However, they had to come soon because the tables were only reserved for 30 minutes. I told the client about the situation and they arrived on time.

 

I’m glad that I could help the client fulfill his supervisor’s expectations. Indeed, sometimes, on a business trip, it might not be so easy to do something since there’s a language barrier. You need someone who speaks the local language and understands the culture.

 

With this experience, I remember that several years ago, I had to visit retail channels and identify business opportunities. I had to rely on the information of local retailers because they certainly know most of the market and local culture.

 

With local retailers’ support, we were able to identify possible reasons for the growth drives and know which areas would be possible to expand.

 

I just got a call from the client and they will come again for a business trip. This time, I guess I know a little bit more about the client’s expectations and his boss’ expectations. Hence, I might be able to prepare more before they come and communicate more effectively. And, I will certainly let them know that they have to book a restaurant earlier.
