Birthday gift

I was in a Starbucks shop, trying to redeem my birthday gift. A friend sent me a voucher via an application, so I can redeem the voucher to get a cup of coffee and a cake.

It’s always great to receive a gift from a friend. You know that he or she is thinking about you and remember your day. However, it might not be easy to meet each other. For example, you have work on your birthday or sometimes, your friends are traveling. Hence, sending a gift via an application isn’t a bad idea.

So many years ago, I was chatting with some college friends on the street. A friend indicated that his brother wished him a happy birthday beforehand. The main reason why was that he would be on a plane on his birthday. Back then, wifi on a flight wasn’t available. Hence, his brother said happy birthday to him earlier.

After traveling to some countries, I learned a little bit about celebrating birthdays in different countries. Additionally, I did join some birthday parties with friends around the world. There are many traditions to celebrate birthdays and sometimes, there are some taboos.

For me, that’s another interesting thing about traveling. You learn to celebrate and party with some people around the world. You share joys and share fun with friends. Of course, some gifts. Nonetheless, the best present is the present. It’s about enjoying the moment. It’s about enjoying being with those friends. It’s about learning through different journeys. I used to receive messages on a bus on my birthday because I was on the way to another city. I used to receive calls from friends on my birthday while I was traveling. I’m always grateful to have those friends and those are the real gifts I got during a trip.
