This is an embarrassing experience. I just recalled it a couple of days ago.
A while ago, a friend and I decided to go to a town, which is not so far from Barcelona. In the town, there are some Gaudi’s masterpieces. It was a sunny day and we took a train to the town.
We walked around the small town and went to a church. My friends and I each took some photos. It’s a small town. We basically checked the map and saw what else we can see.
Then, we saw a house. My friend thought that we could go there to check. Nonetheless, as I saw on the map, it showed that it’s a private house. However, my friend still rang the bell. An old man came out, and my friend asked if we could take a look. Well, she doesn’t speak Spanish, neither did I. So, my friend asked the question in English. The old man didn’t know what we were talking about. He was angry. And the man said “es mi casa” and some other words in Spanish. Then he came back to his house. He closed his door loudly.
Well, I can see his anger and I understand why he was angry. I don’t want to see a stranger come to my house. And that was an important lesson about traveling.
We certainly want to see as much as possible during a trip. Nevertheless, it’s very important to know what to do and what not to do. Back then, I didn’t stop my friend from ringing the bell and it wasn’t a good idea. Additionally, I didn’t know much about Spanish that time and we were unable to communicate well with that man. We didn’t even know how to apologize. I still clearly remember “ es mi casa” with that strong tongue because that reminds me of this lesson.
