Weather

A teacher asked me if I was doing well in Europe. She’s a great person and has helped me so much in my life. She would like to know if I can get used to a new lifestyle.

I told her that I was doing fine and shared some of my experiences in Europe. Well, I mentioned talking about the weather with some friends. She indicated that in some countries, talking about weather is a good way to start a conversation.

For me, it was a great learning experience because I didn’t even know that weather could be an interesting topic. However, it certainly helps me start a conversation with some friends from different countries.

However, a few months ago, talking about weather was not interesting. I read the news about the flood in Valencia. After reading the news, I quickly sent a message to a great friend, who has lived in Valencia for several years. He replied to my message very fast. Thankfully, his family and he were fine. Some of his friends lost some properties. There were some impacts, but I was so glad that my friend and his family were fine.

I went to Valencia once and it was an interesting trip. My friends and I went to “La Tomatina”, which is a festival there. Well, it was a bit messy with lots of tomatoes hitting on you. But it was so fun. However, I would only do it once in my life.

Nonetheless, reading the news, it’s hard to believe that it was the city that I went to. Nevertheless, there’s one thing for sure. Climate change has dramatically changed the world, indeed. We have watched news about hurricanes, floods, heat waves and so on. While traveling and seeing beautiful scenes, we might appreciate that we have to respect nature and be responsible.
