A friend’s stamp on the passport

A few weeks ago, a friend posted a photo on Facebook. She showed a stamp on the passport, indicating that it was her last time to travel and she hasn't traveled abroad since the covid-19 outbreak.

Indeed, lots of people haven’t traveled abroad since the outbreak of covid-19 in 2020. Moreover, many of my friends shared some photos several years ago on social media and they all like those days when traveling was easy and there weren’t many restrictions.

It has been 2+ years since the first known outbreak and it doesn’t seem that the covid-19 pandemic will be 100% under control in the short-term. And, traveling might not be the same as it was.

For some of my friends, they like traveling, but now they can’t travel abroad as they used to do. Nonetheless, they decided to visit cities nearby or travel to other cities in their countries. In the short term, a passport is unnecessary for them to travel. However, they are still traveling, but in a different way.

I talked to a friend, who has worked in a travel agency for more than 10 years. He indicates that the industry probably will slowly recover in the second half of this year. Nonetheless, there are still some uncertainties and it’s just hard to predict whether there will be other variants.

Lots of friends want to travel so badly. But, we still have to patiently wait. It’s ok to not travel abroad. However, it’s definitely not ideal to be tested positive. Well, after seeing that friend’s post on Facebook, she still has to wait for a while and in the short-term, there will not be another stamp on her passport. Nonetheless, she will probably have a new passport soon, a vaccine passport that allows people to prove vaccination records and in the future, it shall be one of the most important travel documents.
