Euro 2020

It’s been almost one month since Euro 2020 began and the final will be in just a few days away. After being postponed for one year, one of the major football tournaments finally played, lots of supporters and fans are traveling to support their national teams. Indeed, major sports tournaments are always attractive to fans and for example, the 2018 World Cup attracted more than 2 million foreigners. A friend recently shared photos that he took while traveling for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. He was with some fans that wore Colombia National Team jerseys. That’s what we can see in a major international event or a sports tournament, supporters travel and follow their national teams and fans travel to watch exciting matches. On that trip, my friend paid for flight tickets (international and domestic), hotels, bars, public transport, tickets and so on. Well, we don’t have to do too many calculations, but sports tournaments definitely can contribute to the economy.   I was in Beijing during the Olympic games and I saw a lot of tourists and athletes there. Additionally, I love to watch baseball games as well. Every spring, fans are heading to Florida and Arizona to watch spring training games and see their favorite players. Some of my friends flew from Asia to America and they shared a lot of stories during the spring training. However, a friend went to Florida last season, but he had to cut his trip short because the MLB cancelled the spring training games after the outbreak of covid-19. Sports events can surely attract fans and people are willing to travel to support their teams or favorite players. I saw fans from Japan, Korea and America travel to support their national baseball teams. Moreover, I met people from Latin America when I was watching football matches in different bars around the world. Most of the time, we don’t support the same team, but we still try to be friends.
