It was one year ago. I had to take a business trip overseas. I went to the airport in the early morning.
I don’t want to miss a flight. So, that night, I didn’t sleep. After boarding, I quickly took a nap on a flight. Well, it wasn’t long. It was just a nap. So, I still felt a bit tired after getting off the flight.
Nonetheless, I had to stay focused. I quickly prepared all the necessary documents for the meeting. Thankfully, the meeting went well. After the meeting, we had dinner with the clients.
I grabbed some beers and things went a little wrong. After dinner, I went to the hotel and I fell asleep very soon in the hotel room. I was tired that night, but I got things done.
This happened frequently. If I have to take a flight in the early morning, for example, 6 am or 7 am, I normally don't sleep. I just don’t want to oversleep and miss a flight. Therefore, I normally avoid taking a flight in the early morning. Nonetheless, if an early flight is the only option, well, I don’t have any other choices.
Well, for a business trip, I have to get the job done. Sometimes, I don’t have choices. I have to finish the job as soon as possible. An early flight is the best option, I can only take it. Nevertheless, if it’s my own trip, I can choose the flight that best fits my expectations or our expectations, if I travel with some friends.
In the past, I prioritized cost and searched for the cheapest options. Now, I must admit that aging has changed my perspective. I no longer have the stamina for those grueling pre-dawn departures. Waking up too early for a flight has become a burden I’d much rather avoid.
