My friend called an Uber and we put our luggage in the car. We took a taxi to the Tokyo station.
We arrived at the station on time. Previously, I only considered the metro was the only option for me because I can easily use a suica to go to so many places. Additionally, I was thinking about the language barrier. I can’t speak Japanese and there might be miscommunication. Moreover, the cost is another issue.
However, on my most recent trip to Japan, taking a taxi is an important option for me and my friends. Firstly, we have luggage. Taking the metro isn’t so easy because we might take our luggage in a crowded metro car. Secondly, by using an application on a mobile phone, taking a taxi has become easier. We can just set the route and know the price. Thirdly, if I travel with friends, we can share the cost of taking a taxi. We calculate carefully and the cost is similar to taking a metro if we share the cost.
Taking a taxi during a trip isn’t new to me. It’s always an option. Nonetheless, there are always some other options. It truly depends on different situations. For example, I used to take a business trip to Northeast China. I arrived at night and taking a taxi was the only option.
Nevertheless, there was a problem. Some taxi drivers wanted to ask me to pay more. Of course not, I don’t want to do that. So, I talked to several taxi drivers and in the end, a taxi driver indicated that he would charge by meter. I said yes. Thankfully, I arrived at the hotel safely. When I arrived at the hotel, I asked a colleague who arrived earlier that I did. He demonstrated that he paid way more than I did.
