the accident

I was watching the news on TV. A reporter mentioned a tragic event and indicated that there might be a memorial in the future. The local government is planning.

For me, the feeling is mixed. I know the place where that tragic event happened because I passed by there several times. Nonetheless, recently, things have changed because people are aware of the event.

While traveling, it’s highly possible to see memorials. There are several reasons that people go there. Firstly, the events have huge impacts on the city, on the country or even on the world. Additionally, it helps people remember something and learn something. For example, some people sacrificed a lot to make things happen. Thirdly, it helps you learn several things. It could help you learn history. It could help you know the culture.

When I talked with a friend about the tragic event, we certainly know that the topic wasn’t a good one. However, if we have a good discussion, we can learn from this. After chatting with my friend, I think about some memorials that I passed by or went to. I like history and I love to read history. So, I like to see some memorials and those memorials aren’t just in the book.

In addition, by going there and talking to local people about the events, it helps me have different perspectives to learn the history. This is certainly an important thing that I learn from traveling. Nonetheless, the most important thing is that we have to learn from these events. We have to know why it happened. We have to know how to avoid tragic things again (If we can). Well, it’s not utopia. We might still see crazy things happen. Nonetheless, if there’s something we can learn and there’s something that can help us learn. It’s beneficial.
