I was tasting jamon with a friend in a bar. Suddenly, a staffer asked a question. He speaks Spanish.
He asked me if I knew about cars. Well, at that moment, I didn’t know what to say. Why did he ask me something about cars? Then, he added that it's a Ferrari. So, the staffer would like to tell me that the quality of the jamon we tasted was premium. To make it easier to understand, he asked me if I have enough knowledge about cars. The staffer emphasized how great the quality is.
My friend explained the situation and I fully understood what the staffer wanted to say. I actually felt sorry that I wasn’t able to speak or understand Spanish well. Now, I might be able to answer that question and can provide an answer.
Indeed, the quality of the jamons served in that bar is truly great. Nonetheless, I missed one thing, which is quite important. I didn’t learn much about the industry. Until recently, I read the news about African swine fever. This is bad news and I don't want to see it. Nonetheless, by reading news, I now learn more about this industry.
And an important thing for me is that, I truly treasured the moment that we tasted jamon. A great quality of food isn’t coming from nowhere, it’s a joint effort from several hard-working laborers and staffers. From farm to table, there are so many processes. If there’s a mistake, it might cause huge problems.
I truly hope this kind of thing can be controlled and the industry wouldn’t be impacted a lot. Even now, when I taste jamon, I always think about that day and that story about car. That’s always something important about traveling. It creates good memories that are worthwhile to keep in mind for a long time.
