I bought some souvenirs for my friend and family. I was thinking that they might like this present. However, after 2 weeks, I found a serious problem.
It was going to expire in a couple of days. I bought some local pastries, which are exclusive from the region. It looks like a famous choice from that region. So, I decided to buy some on the last day of the trip.
I didn’t notice the expiration date. So, I was just thinking that I could hand it in to my friends and family when they are available. Nonetheless, I was wrong.
For me, that’s a key problem and I wasn’t able to deliver the presents on time. So, I decided to eat them all. A few weeks before, I met my friend, who frequently goes to Japan. I told him the situation. He told me that it’s common. He understood that most local pastries could last long. It’s better to eat as soon as possible.
After this huge lesson, a friend just came back from Japan a few days before. He asked me to meet him on the day of his arrival. He would like to give me a present, which is a gift box of local pastry. I fully understood the situation. So, I re-arranged my schedule to meet him. I’m glad to get the souvenir from him.
With this lesson, I just think about souvenirs for quite a while. Perhaps, some souvenirs related to something to eat aren’t ideal. You have to know your friends’ preferences on the flavors. Moreover, you have to pay attention to the expiration date. If you can’t deliver on time, it could be a waste. Otherwise, you have to eat all of them. Nevertheless, another thing about souvenirs is that there’s something to buy locally. Sometimes, in some cities, there’s not much to buy as souvenirs.
