I just read an article about traveling. It was about a travel agency’s marketing campaign. The main theme of the campaign was to help tourists identify their destinations.
So, what they did was simple. You just have to choose the location and purpose. And the agency will provide some suggestions. Location and purpose, this method looks quite simple. However, we might sometimes ignore these 2 elements.
Interestingly, by combining these 2 elements, I did see the travel agency provide several good suggestions. For me, I was trying to use this method to identify the next trip. I listed some cities that I would like to go to and I wrote down some purposes on the list. For example, I put cities such as Tokyo, Seoul and Los Angeles on the list. At the same time, I write down my purposes such as holiday, visiting friends and sports.
When I combine the city and purpose, there are several possible things to do for the next trip. Most of the time, I just booked flight tickets and accommodations. Then I took a trip. By using this method, I see some new possibilities to travel.
I like to decide where to go first and then I choose what to do after arriving at the destination. I don’t really think too much about purpose. It’s quite casual. But sometimes, I might get lost during a trip. For example, I might choose to go to a museum in the morning and the next day, I decide to go shopping. And those 2 destinations are not in the same neighborhood. Eventually, I spent too much time on transportation. Well, next time, I will ask myself this question to know my purpose first before making a decision. Then, I will try to identify the right cities to go and plan a trip.
