Spanish

A friend asked me if I speak Spanish, well I said that I speak a little bit. He’s from France and he speaks Spanish.

We met in a hostel and we both want to practice Spanish. Well, we are not native speakers, so we might not be perfect language exchange buddies. Nonetheless, it was fun to speak and practice another language.

He asked me if I would like to travel to some countries where people speak Spanish there. My answer was yes. And I indicated that I would like to go to Peru because a good friend of mine is there. I want to visit him someday. Then, he told me that he went to Peru last year. He likes to surf and he wants to go to Peru to surf.

He taught me that in Peru, you use the word “chevere” to say something is cool. “Chevere”, I quickly tried to remember this word in my mind and I texted my Peruvian friend. My Peruvian friend asked me what’s going on. Then, my friend explained how to use this word. And I also learned new words to describe something cool.

It was a great talk because I not only practiced Spanish but also learned new words. It’s been a while since the last time I went to Latin America. Nonetheless, I keep practicing Spanish and hopefully, I can communicate in Spanish. Well, I won't be a fluent speaker. Nevertheless, I hope that I will be able to communicate with local people in Latin America, so I can gain unique experience. Now, I’ve learned more words since the last time I went to Latin America. I would never say it’s enough. But I would like to try for sure. And I hope to correctly use “chevere” when I’m in Peru and when I chat with my friend.
