Travel with your colleague?

I got a message from a friend and she was going to take a trip with her colleagues.

She was a bit scared of the trip and I couldn’t stop laughing. The main reason why she was scared was that she hadn’t been with her colleagues for such a long time. Her working style is hybrid and normally, she went to the office twice per week. Therefore, she never saw her colleagues five days in a row.

During the trip, she had to be with her colleagues for 5 days. And that would be the longest period for her to be with her colleagues. I was joking with her about this trip. Nonetheless, after talking to her, I began to think about some trips with colleagues.

Previously, a company that I used to work for provided a one-day trip. It wasn’t a long trip. We just took a bus to visit another supervisor in another town. It was an ok one. I can learn a bit from other colleagues. So, I never really took a trip with colleagues.

I know several companies offer company trips as a benefit. Nevertheless, as some of my friends said, they don’t really like company trips for some reasons. Most of all, they more or less still feel that they are still working during a trip.

I totally understand why some friends provide feedback like that. Nonetheless, some friends are ok with the company trip. For me, the most important thing about a trip is that “it must be a trip.” When you travel with your colleagues, it might be hard to truly relax and some topics might still cover work. Well, maybe you are still talking about something about work. But if some colleagues become friends with you and you can arrange a trip after work. That’s a different story.
