Merry Christmas. It’s Christmas day. I wish everyone a happy holiday.
I talked to a friend a few days ago and he shared his plan for this Christmas. Of course, this moment for him is to spend time with family. However, in some countries, the tradition is a little bit different.
For example, the first time I heard about this. I was shocked. In Japan, you celebrate Christmas by eating KFC. Well, I’m not going to dive deep about this tradition. Nevertheless, later on, I asked my Japanese friends, they told me about this tradition. For me, this is so fun. But, yes, you can see the differences from each country.
In addition, 10 years ago, a friend was studying in Spain. On Christmas holidays, her teammate, who’s from Spain, invited her to spend Christmas with family. My friend truly enjoyed the moment with her teammate’s family. And my friend could learn a little bit more about the culture in Spain and know more about her teammate. That’s a very unique Christmas vacation.
Nonetheless, there’s always an important thing to do before planning a trip during Christmas vacation. Firstly, it’s important to know a little bit more about each country’s Christmas tradition. In particular, if there’s a Christmas vacation in that country, you had better know that most stores would be closed during that time. Additionally, it’s about budget. Flight tickets might be more expensive during this period, you have to plan early if you have to come back home for Christmas and travel at this time.
And, finally, this is something I regret a little bit. I used to spend Christmas in Brazil. However, I left on the 26th or the 27th. Then, I realized that I should have stayed longer to celebrate New Year in Latin America. Thus, an important lesson for me is to plan the Christmas holiday and New Year holiday carefully. If you can arrange things well, you will surely enjoy a trip on special holidays.
