I finished dinner with a client from Korea. It was around 10 p.m., he took a taxi back to the hotel.
It was an interesting night, we talked a lot about our daily routines such as what to do on holidays, beers and so on. Previously, we spent most of the time discussing business. However, that was the first time that I know a little bit more about the client.
After he finished the trip, he asked me if I was going to Korea soon. I indicated that there were some possibilities for me to visit Korea again. At the same time, I also told him that I have to stay away from the soju. The effect of tasting that soju is not good for me. Nonetheless, some beers are fine. Moreover, I’ll prepare some wines for him for sure.
For me, this kind of business trip is quite interesting. And I discussed this with a friend who frequently goes to Japan. He’s a manager of business development and his major clients are Japanese companies. He goes to Japan very often and has inked several deals with his clients. For one part, you have to know your client. This is about business, you need to understand why they want to buy. In the meantime, you have to know your clients or key contact persons. You have to know how to build a good relationship and how to know them well.
My friend and I have frequently discussed this kind of topic and shared our experience. And for one thing, we all understand that business is business. You have to be professional and understand the situation. Moreover, when we take a business trip, we will prepare souvenirs for each other. It’s a way for us to share some funny parts of our business trips.
